If Joseph D. Cipolla’s 25 years with the Internal Revenue Service taught him anything, it’s that most people want to pay their taxes – some just can’t. “Working with the IRS, I encountered many people who wanted to pay their taxes, but due to business failures, medical bills or other financial difficulties, they were just unable to do so,” says Joe. During his years with the IRS, Joe’s cases ranged from auditing personal and small businesses to those on the American and the New York Stock Exchanges. While at the IRS, Joe worked in various capacities as a Revenue Agent examining tax returns, as a District Reviewer checking over agent’s case work, and was the Returns Program Manager in the Buffalo IRS District. Joe’s favorite job was that of a District Conferee where, for over three years, he settled tax disputes between taxpayers and agents of the IRS. After working for 25 years in the Examination Division of the Internal Revenue Service, Joe formed Tax Help Associates, a company dedicated to helping honest taxpayers start fresh. With several former IRS Agents on staff, the company’s focus is the representation of taxpayers before the Collection Division of the IRS and various State taxation agencies. The staff has processed over 100 Offers in Compromise with considerable success in having these Offers accepted. In addition, Tax Help Associates has been extremely successful with payroll tax Penalty Abatement issues, saving clients hundred of thousands of dollars. Joe is a Certified Public Accountant, an Enrolled Agent, and a member of both the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Joe attended Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, and taught at various local colleges as well as the IRS. Joe has made several presentations before Certified Public Accountants and Enrolled Agents regarding tax representation services before the IRS.
